The device can even be used for the elderly, vulnerable and disabled.
How does it work?
The device is configured to report live GPS location to the Protrack software platform which can be tracked via app and PC.
In the event of an accident or slip the device will automatically detect “man down” and alert pre-determined numerous personnel based on SMS, email and back office software sending the user details, type of incident and GPS location.
The user can also activate the panic button which will carry out the same functionality as the “man down” alerts.
The receiver(s) can call the device and even if the user does not answer the connection can be connected automatically to “listen in and speak to the user to provide comfort.
The relevant action can then be taken to ensure that there is a prompt response to the lone workers incident.

Lone Worker FAQs
Do I need to set the device up with a call centre?
The device does not need to be set up with a call centre. Call centres are expensive; however the device can be set up to alert numerous personal via our software platform by SMS, Email, Pop up and via the software platform. If you are very concerned about safety and alerts not reaching you for any reason, it is recommended to set up a call centre response.
Will the device keep going off if it is simply suspended around my neck on a lanyard?
It is not likely that this would happen as we control the settings within the device however in the unlikely event that this does happen we can “tweak” the setting to prevent false alarms.
How will I know if the device needs charging?
Protrack have cleverly built in alerts to notify you when the percentage levels hot the pre-defined level that you have requested. EG 30% and 10% levels. This will not only notify you but the person who has control of the device as a reminder to charge it.
How long does the battery last?
The battery on standard use will last approx. 3-4 days, about the same as a mobile phone however it is recommended to charge the device whenever the pre-defined level alerts are achieved.

Is there a limit to the number of notifications and calls that can be made from the device?
As standard the device will alert with 10 SMS messages and 10 minutes of calls from the device however you can call the device at no additional charge. More minutes and SMS messages can be requested. NOTE – if more devices are added the account the minutes and texts are aggregated .. Example… 3 devices provide 30 minute and 30 texts, 10 devices would provide a total of 100 minutes and 100 texts between the devices not for each one.
Do I require a lanyard?
A lanyard is recommended however the device can fit into most common pockets.
Can I add an ID card or license into the device?
A card or ID permit can be added by sliding into the side pocket.
Does the device send my current location via GPS?
The device will send a location every 15 minutes by default (more often will affect the battery life as GPS is power consuming) however in the event of an “automated or pressed” alert the device will send the GPS of the device.
Does the device work indoors?
GPS can be located indoors near to windows etc, however in many cases the devices will not be as accurate as when outside and viewable to the sky, in the event of an incident or GPS update th4e device will send in its last known recorded location.
How long does the device take to charge?
It takes about 60 minutes to charge the device fully however can be quicker with fast chargers.
Can I call the device at any time?
The device can be called at any time by any number and be used as a mobile phone. There are no costs to do this except for your own network providers standard call costs if applicable.
What happens if I call the device and the one worker/vulnerable person does not answer due to an accident or incident?
The device can be configured to automatically answer after a set number of rings, so that you can talk to the person with the device to provided comfort in case they are unable to answer.
What should I do in the event of an accident or incident?
This is something that only you can decide but it is worth putting in a plan before this happens. Some recommendations, only, are listed below…
Create a plan in the event of an alarm going off by man down or pre-pressed alarm activation.
- Call the device to see if this is a false alarm.
- 1a. User answers – take relevant action – If accidental – Dismiss / If action is required, take immediate action that you have pre-thought about. Initiate Accident & Emergency procedure.
- 2a User does not answer- Take relevant action such as task someone to site or try calling their mobile or someone more local to investigate. Initiate Accident & Emergency procedure.
Can the device be used for elderly, vulnerable and disabled personal?
The device can be used for anyone that is at risk of a trip, fall, accident, harm or simply to keep tabs on their location for peace of mind.
